We serve our customers through 80 manufacturing facilities on five continents in some 100 countries. These include 22 Just-in-Time plants. Please see our Facilities Directory.
Our manufacturing facilities produce high quality products and systems, using state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and advanced optimization tools to assure consistent levels of quality and to improve efficiency.
Production processes like our automated laser-beam welding deliver significant improvements in performance and costs.
Tenneco extensively employs Lean manufacturing techniques to improve efficiency by improving quality, reducing inventory and raising revenue per employee.
These facilities also employ state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and the latest optimization tools, including Six Sigma, a proven approach to improved product quality that eliminates product variability, defects and waste.
Our global supply management system supports this manufacturing network that qualifies the best suppliers and generates cost-efficiency by leveraging worldwide spending and sourcing in lower-cost countries. Because we supply global platforms, we can streamline development and production.
We are a leader in In-Line Sequenced processes to mesh our operations precisely with customer needs. Additionally, we improve our OE customer service around the world with Just-in-Time (JIT) delivery facilities close to customers’ manufacturing plants.
Our San Antonio emission control JIT facility, for example, is the last stop in a multi-plant continuous production pipeline, which culminates in shipping a full exhaust system every 12 minutes to our customer 500 feet away. Perfecting product flow through operational excellence processes like Kanban, allows us to serve customers’ needs when and where they need it.
